Our Services

Preventative Dentistry

Beltline Dental Care will work with you to help you achieve and maintain maximum oral health.

Oral diseases are progressive and cumulative, and can become more complex over time. 7 out of 10 Canadians develop gum disease at some point in their lives and it is the most common dental problem. The scary part is that it can progress overtime without any symptoms until it has caused a bigger problem. Therefore, it is so important to prevent gum disease before it becomes serious and irreversible.

Did you know gum disease is an active infection in your body? Scientific studies show there is an association between gum disease and other systemic conditions such as heart disease and diabetes. The good thing is, gum disease can be reversible if we are meticulous with our oral self-care at home and see our dental professionals on a regular basis.

The dental hygienists at Beltline Dental Care will educate, treat, and individualize an at home oral self-care routine just for you. Our experienced dental hygienists are highly skilled, yet gentle, in performing the following services:

  • Dental cleaning
  • Polishing
  • Fluoride treatment
  • Oral Cancer Screening
  • Sealants
  • Oral Hygiene Instruction
  • X-rays

Call today and book your next routine dental visit with one of our dental hygienists today!

Complete Oral Care

Beltline Dental in Calgary, provides complete oral care for the entire family, ranging from toddlers to the elderly.

It’s important to take care of your mouth and teeth starting in childhood. If you don’t, you could have problems later on, with your teeth and gums – like cavities or even tooth loss. Our dentists provide complete oral care for the entire family ranging from toddlers to the elderly.

Here’s how to keep your mouth and teeth healthy:

  • Brush your teeth every day with fluoride toothpaste.
  • Floss your teeth every day
  • Snack smart – limit sugary snacks
  • Get enough calcium
  • Don’t smoke or chew tobacco
  • Have regular routine check ups and cleaning by us

At Beltline Dental Clinic in Calgary, our dental hygienists are here to offer you support and treatment for your overall oral health. Have you ever wondered why you may have halitosis (bad breath)? Come and visit our dental hygienists and they can tell you why.

Here are a few things that we routinely do in our clinic as part of the overall dental treatment for our patients:

Wisdom teeth removal is very common nowadays due to the way these teeth are developed. They are usually impacted (meaning they are “stuck” underneath the gum and not able to surface through the gum). The impaction can lead to infection later on if there is a “gap” through the gum between the oral cavity and the space where the tooth is.

Root canal treatment for cavities that already invaded the nerve of the tooth. If you have a toothache, most likely you may need root canal therapy or have the tooth removed (extracted).

White fillings are composite resins that can endure chewing force on the teeth. It is much more esthetic than silver fillings.

Partial dentures work for patients who have several missing teeth in the back of the mouth where a dental bridge cannot be fabricated. It is a cheaper option than a dental bridge. The dentures need to be removed at night for hygienic reasons.

Dental bridges consist of porcelain crowns that cover two or more supporting teeth with the false teeth (made of porcelain as well) in between them. They are fused together and must be cemented on the supporting teeth as a permanent restoration.

Dental Emergencies

Our Calgary dental office is well equipped in providing full care and solutions for dental emergencies.

If you are in pain, please call our clinic and we will see you on the same day to relieve you from your discomfort.

Dental Emergency Procedures Can Help Save a Tooth

  • Handling a dental emergency can be tricky when you or a loved one is in pain, but a quick and appropriate reaction can help save a tooth in danger. The American Dental Association recommends that you become familiar with these dental emergency procedures just in case you ever have a dental emergency.
  • If a tooth is knocked out, hold the tooth by the crown and rinse the root in water if it’s dirty. Do NOT scrub it or remove any attached tissue fragments. If you can, gently place the tooth back in its socket or store it in a cup of milk and head for the dentist (with the tooth) immediately.
  • If you break a tooth, rinse your mouth with warm water to keep the area clean and apply cold compresses on your face to reduce swelling. Go to the dentist immediately.
  • Treat a bitten tongue or lip by cleaning gently with a cloth and applying cold compresses to reduce swelling. If bleeding is heavy or doesn’t stop after a short time, seek immediate treatment from your dentist or emergency room.
  • If a toothache is getting you down, rinse your mouth with warm water, gently floss to remove food that may be trapped around it and see your dentist as soon as possible. Do NOT apply aspirin to the tooth or gum tissues.
  • A jaw injury or possible fracture needs immediate attention at your dentist’s office or the emergency room. Apply cold compresses on the way to reduce swelling.
  • If a loose or broken wire from your braces is irritating your mouth, cover the wire end with a small cotton ball, beeswax or a piece of gauze until you can get to the dentist. Seek immediate treatment if a wire gets stuck in the cheek, tongue or gum tissue, but don’t try to pull it out yourself.
  • If you have a dental emergency while you are traveling, check the yellow pages under “dentist” for the number of the state or local dental society; the society will be able to refer you to a nearby dentist. Or, visit the local emergency room and ask for a dentist referral. If you are abroad, contact the Embassy or hotel personnel for a dentist referral.

Teeth Whitening in Calgary

There are many different types of teeth whitening that you can receive in Calgary nowadays. In our Calgary Dental clinic, we offer both take-home (do-it-yourself) teeth whitening, and in-office (we-do-it) teeth whitening proceadures. The take-home kit usually takes about 2 weeks (1/2 hour a day) to complete. The in-office whitening proceadure takes about 2 hours in our office, where you will be under a special light for an hour for the whitening process. The remaining time is for setting up and cleaning up.

Please call our Calgary dental clinic for further information regarding these procedures.

Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry refers to the use of pharmacological agents to calm and relax a patient prior to and during a dental appointment. The pharmacological agents usually belong to a class of drugs called sedatives, which exert their action by depressing the central nervous system, specifically those areas concerned with conscious awareness.

There are different degrees of central nervous system depression, each corresponding to a level of relaxation which ranges from minimal, moderate, to deep sedation.

  • In general, minimal sedation refers to a patient who has reduced anxiety but readily responds to verbal or physical stimulation.
  • With moderate sedation the patient is even more relaxed, and will respond to purposeful stimulation.
  • In deep sedation, the patient may not exhibit any signs of consciousness and therefore be unresponsive to stimulation.

In our clinic, we achieve sedation in three ways:

Laughing Gas: Takes the edge off anxiety, without lingering effects. Once the gas is turned off, the effects are gone shortly after. Very little sedation required and minimal side effects.

Oral Sedation: (taking pills) More profound than the laughing gas, with lingering effects and slow onset (taking longer to feel its effect). Patients sometimes experience a bit of amnesia at the drug’s peak level. There are more side effects with this type of sedation.

IV Sedation: (injection into the vein) Very profound effect with quick onset and lingering effects as well. Patients normally would not be able to remember much of the procedure after the drug kicks in. There are many side effects with this type of sedation.

With any type of sedation, patients must be healthy (as indicated through a recent physical exam), have no known allergies to the medications involved, have no drug addiction history, and is not taking any controlled substance.

Dental Implants

Beltline Dental Clinic in downtown Calgary can help you to accomplish a brilliant smile with our extensive Dental Implant services.

A Dental Implant is an artificial tooth root replacement and is used in prosthetic dentistry, to support restorations that resemble a tooth or group of teeth. Upon your consultation in our downtown Calgary office, our Implant Dentist can give you more information and fill you in on your possible Dental Implant options.

How do Dental Implants Work?

Because implants fuse to your jawbone, they provide stable support for artificial teeth. Dentures and bridges mounted to implants won’t slip or shift in your mouth — an especially important benefit when eating and speaking. This secure fit helps the dentures and bridges — as well as individual crowns placed over implants — feel more natural than conventional bridges or dentures.

At Beltline dental clinic in downtown Calgary, upon a short consultation, our Implant Dentist can provide you with more information on how dental implants perform and if they would work for you.

Who is a Candidate for Dental Implants?

For some people, ordinary bridges and dentures are simply not comfortable or even possible, due to sore spots, poor ridges or gagging. In addition, ordinary bridges must be attached to teeth on either side of the space left by the missing tooth. An advantage of implants is that no adjacent teeth need to be prepared or ground down to hold your new replacement tooth/teeth in place.

To receive implants, you need to have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant. You must also commit to keeping these structures healthy. Meticulous oral hygiene and regular dental visits are critical to the long-term success of dental implants.

Implants are usually more expensive than other methods of tooth replacement, and most insurance carriers typically cover less than 10 percent of the fees.

At Beltline Dental clinic in downtown Calgary, we welcome you to request a short consultation with our Implant Dentist who can better access your needs and candidacy for Dental Implants

Laser Dentistry

At Beltline Dental Clinic in Calgary, our Dentists are skilled and knowledgeable in providing full comprehensive care in laser dentistry.

There are a variety of uses for lasers in the field of dentistry. Lasers can be used for cavity removal, teeth whitening, gum reshaping, and to harden bonding materials used in fillings. In addition, lasers are used in periodontal care to remove bacteria from periodontal pockets.

Lasers can also eliminate the need for the dental drill and reduce patients’ fears about treatment. Laser tools such as the Waterlase® system and diode lasers can be used to vaporize decay and treatment is virtually painless, eliminating the need for anesthesia.

Benefits of Laser Dentistry

No irritating noise – No more high frequency drilling sounds. The only sound you may hear aside from the clicking as it operates, is a slight popping as the laser beam does its work.

Reduced bleeding – When used to treat gum disease, the dental laser actually cauterizes blood vessels and virtually eliminates bleeding, reducing the chance of infection.

Ongoing protection – Many dental problems are caused by the presence of destructive bacteria. The laser’s ability to reduce the level of bacteria makes it an excellent tool for treating dental disease.

Greater conservation of healthy tissue – The laser’s precision allows your dentist to perform dental procedures with less destruction to healthy tissue.

Earlier interception of disease – The nature of the laser light also lets your dentist treat emerging dental problems earlier than ever before.
