Instructions After Root Canal Therapy
- Do not chew on that side for at least three days
- Brush the area carefully and try to floss if you can get the floss down between the teeth in that area. Do not force it. Pull the floss through instead of pulling out from the junction of the two teeth.
- Take Advil/Motrin (Ibuprofen) 200 mg tablet, 2 tablets every 4 hours for at least 48 hours as the first drug of choice to decrease the inflammation and pain in the area. In addition, you may take some Tylenol extra-strength to decrease the discomfort. Do not just take Tylenol alone.
- Biting or touching the tooth will be sensitive for at least 2 - 14 days. Each person is different. If the pain becomes constant, call our office immediately.
- Call our office if you experience any swelling in the area.
- If you start to feel worse after two days, please call our office due to the possibility that the filling could be slightly high. It needs to be reduced a bit-bite adjustment may be needed.
